In a recent survey conducted by none other than ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, NFL coaches and executives were asked to rank the top quarterbacks in the league. The results of this survey sent shockwaves through the league as Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was completely left off the list.

The criticism surrounding Hurts has been intensifying during the offseason, with talk of the Eagles’ disappointing 2023 season dominating headlines. It seems that Hurts can’t catch a break, with questions about his leadership and performance on the field looming large. This exclusion from the top ten list has only added fuel to the fire.

Hurts did manage to land an honorable mention in Fowler’s survey, along with NFC rivals such as Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers and Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers. The NFC was well represented in the top ten, with quarterbacks like Matt Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams claiming the fifth spot. However, it seems Hurts just couldn’t break through into the elite rankings.

According to NFL coaches and executives, Hurts may have been playing injured during the 2023 season. This, combined with the Eagles’ lackluster offensive scheme, likely contributed to his fall in the rankings. It’s clear that Hurts has his work cut out for him in the upcoming season if he hopes to prove his doubters wrong.

Despite the disappointment of last season, there is hope on the horizon for the Eagles and Hurts. With changes in the coaching staff and the departure of key veterans like Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox, there is an opportunity for a fresh start in 2024. Hurts will need to step up as a leader and improve his game if he wants to silence his critics.

The offseason has brought some promising additions to the Eagles roster, including offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and running back Saquon Barkley. These new pieces should provide support for Hurts and help elevate the offense to new heights. With the right personnel around him, Hurts has the potential to crack the top eight quarterbacks in the league in 2025.

As the Eagles gear up for the upcoming season, they must channel all the offseason criticism into motivation. With a renewed sense of purpose and a revamped roster, the Eagles have the opportunity to defy expectations and make a statement in the league. It’s up to Hurts and his teammates to prove that they belong among the NFL’s elite quarterbacks.
